"La Luis Burela" is an Argentine patriotic song by José Adolfo Gaillardou and Ricardo Heredia which pays tribute to Luis Burela and Martin Miguel de Güemes, two key figures in the Argentine War of Independence. Both were from the northern province of Salta (the flag-map being of this province), and they liberated the north of the country from Spanish rule in what is known as the Gaucho War, the gauchos being like Argentine versions of 'cowboys', often of mixed race and thus in a lower strata of society during Imperial Spanish rule.
