Molly Sundgren, Brooklyn Buckley, Layla Merancio, Aniston Welk, Noelle Frantz, Gaby Gutierrez and Kynzlee Buckley led Buchanan High of California to the Division 1 girls team title with 76 points at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. Sundgren covered the 5-kilometer layout in 17:33.1 for fifth place, Brooklyn Buckley clocked 17:35.5 for eighth, Merancio took 11th in 17:46.9, Welk achieved 31st in her state meet debut as a freshman in 18:06.9, with fellow ninth-grader Frantz running 18:24.6 for 50th, Gutierrez grabbed 55th in 18:30.7 and Kynzlee Buckley earned 62nd in 18:36.7 for the Bears, who won the fifth state championship in program history, including the first since 2022.
