The Unimate 200 and 500 series robots were the first commercially available electric robots. Prior to then, Unimation, the first and leading robotics company, manufactured and sold hydraulic robots.
Here we take a look inside the 260 arm and controller and try to explain how they work. The 200 and 500 had five degrees of freedom while the 260 and 560 had six (with an extra rotating joint at the end of the arm).
