CDG/Chandigarh Junction -- KCVL/Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli)
The 12217 / 12218 Kerala Sampark Kranti SF Express is a Superfast Express service among Sampark Kranti category that runs between Kochuveli railway station in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of the state of Kerala and Chandigarh the capital city of Haryana & Punjab. It is the longest-running Sampark Kranti express train which covers almost 3417 km in one way run. It is running with an LHB rake W.E.F. 8 February 2019. It is the only direct train from Kerala to punjab that runs on biweekly basis.
From 7 July 2021 it runs with new timings in both the directions. Accordingly, 12217 Kochuveli–Chandigarh Kerala Sampark Kranti Superfast Express departs Kochuveli on every Saturday & Monday at 09.10 hrs and reaches Chandigarh at 09:50 hrs on every Monday & Wednesday. During monsoon periods it leaves Kochuveli at 04.40 hrs on every Saturday & Monday and reaches Chandigarh at 09.50 hrs on every Monday & Wednesday.
In the return direction 12218 Chandigarh–Kochuveli Kerala Sampark Kranti Superfast Express departs Chandigarh on every Wednesday & Friday at 09:20 at reaches Kochuveli at 12:25 on every Friday & Sunday. During Monsoon Timings it departs Chandigarh at 09.20 hrs on every Wednesdays & Fridays and reaches Kochuveli at 14.30 hrs on every Friday & Sunday.
During monsoon periods in Konkan route, timings will be changed.
As the route is fully electrified, both trains are hauled by a Ghaziabad Loco Shed / Ludhiana Loco Shed-based WAP-7 electric locomotive from end to end.
12217/18 Kochuveli–Chandigarh–Kochuveli Kerala Sampark Kranti Superfast Express has modern LHB coach. It has 22 LHB coach.

Chandigarh Junction railway station (station code:- CDG), serves the union territory city of Chandigarh. The station is at an elevation of 330.77 metres (1,085.2 ft) and was assigned the code – CDG. Chandigarh is amongst the top hundred booking stations of the Indian Railway.
The Delhi–Panipat–Ambala–Kalka line was opened in 1891, and the Chandigarh–Sahnewal line (also referred to as Ludhiana–Chandigarh rail link) was inaugurated in 2013.
Ambala–Chandigarh sector was electrified in 1998–99 and Chandigarh–Kalka in 1999–2000.
Chandigarh railway station has computerized reservation facilities, General Railway Police outpost, telephone booths, tourist reception centre, waiting room, retiring room, vegetarian and non-vegetarian refreshment room, and book stall. In 2014, Chandigarh railway station got escalators.
The railway station is 8 km from the city centre. The airport is 7 km. City buses, auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws are available at the station for local transportation.
Thiruvananthapuram North Railway Station (formerly Kochuveli railway station, station code: KCVL) is an NSG–3 category Indian railway station in Thiruvananthapuram railway division of Southern Railway zone.) It is a satellite passenger railway station of Thiruvananthapuram. It is being developed to ease congestion at Thiruvananthapuram Central.
Some trains presently operating from Thiruvananthapuram Central, including the Sabari Express, will commence the journey from Thiruvananthapuram North railway station once the station is completely developed. Thiruvananthapuram North railway station also caters to special trains during busy seasons. The trains connect this station to cities like New Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hubli, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Madgaon, Bhavnagar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Indore, Surat, Nilambur, Jodhpur, Sri Ganganagar and Nagercoil.
The station is situated 1.2 km from the NH 66 Thiruvananthapuram–Kanyakumari bypass road and 8 km from Central bus station Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation operates a low-floor AC feeder bus from Thiruvananthapuram North terminal to Thiruvananthapuram city for the benefit of long-distance passengers. The buses are operated from the station at timings based on train arrivals.
