Rectilinear Motion Problems - Distance, Displacement, Velocity, Speed & Acceleration

Distance can only be positive but displacement can be positive or negative. This video explains how to find the displacement of a particle by evaluating the definite integral of the velocity function over a closed interval. You need to know a few basic integration rules for this video. If you know how to find the antiderivatives of constants, linear functions, and polynomial functions - you should be ok. The position function is the antiderivative of the velocity function and the velocity function is the antiderivative or integral of the acceleration function.
