أم كيكي | Um Kiki

هي آلة توجد في العديد من الدول العربية والأفريقية. في الجزائر تُسمى "الأمزاد" ويعزف عليها النساء فقط، وفي بورندي تُسمى "اندونونقو"، وفي إثيوبيا تُسمى "الماسنقو"، وتُسمى "الرباب العربي" في معظم دول الخليج، بينما تُسمى "الأوروتو" في كينيا. تنتشر هذه الآلة في غرب السودان، خصوصًا بين قبائل البقارة. هي آلة وترية (قوسية)، حيث تصدر الصوت بواسطة قوس.
من الصعب تحديد تاريخ دقيق لبداية صناعة الآلات الشعبية عمومًا، لكن تاريخ صناعة هذه الآلات يرتبط بتاريخ المجموعة التي ابتكرتها واستخدمتها. أما آلة "أم كيكي" فهي من الآلات التي تستخدمها قبائل البقارة ، مثل المسيرية ، ومجموعة الرزيقات، الأرينقا، والمساليت في دارفور. تُعزف في جميع المناسبات الاجتماعية، سواء في الأفراح (للمدح أو الزُّم) أو في الأتراح (لرثاء الموتى). يتم العزف عليها جلوساً، حيث يضع العازف الآلة بين فخذيه ويمرر القوس على الوتر باليد اليمنى، بينما يغير الدرجات الصوتية باليد اليسرى.
تتكون آلة "أم كيكي" من القرعة، السبيبة (الوتر)، القوس، والحمار (الذي يشد عليه الوتر). قطر القرعة يتراوح بين ٢٠ إلى ٢٥ سم، وطول العصاة يتراوح بين ٤٠ إلى ٥٠ سم، بينما طول قطعة القرع حوالي ٤ سم وارتفاعها ٣ سم.

The Um Kiki is an instrument found in many Arab and African countries. In Algeria, it is called the Amazdad, and it is played only by women. In Burundi, it is called Indonongo, and in Ethiopia, it is called Masngo. In the Gulf countries, it is referred to as the Arab Rabab, while in Kenya, it is known as the Oroto. It is widespread in Western Sudan, especially among the Baggara tribes. The Am Kiki is a stringed instrument (bowed), meaning it produces sound through the use of a bow.
It is impossible to determine the exact history of the creation of folk instruments in general, but their history is closely linked to the history of the group that invented and used them. The Um Kiki is used by the Baggara tribes in Kordofan, the Darfur states, the Messiria in Kordofan, and the Rizeigat, Aringa, and Masalit tribes in Darfur. The instrument is played in both joyful occasions for praise and in mourning for lamentation. It is played while sitting, with the player placing it between their thighs. The bow is passed over the string with the right hand, and the player adjusts the pitch with the left hand.
The instrument consists of a gourd (calabash), a bow, and a donkey bone used to tighten the string. The gourd has a diameter ranging from 20 to 25 cm, and the bow is about 40 to 50 cm in length. The gourd's stem is 4 cm long and 3 cm in height.
