As Coach Lee explains, many times people want their ex to miss them and wan them back but they do things that push the other person away.

Things that push the other person away include begging, pleading, showing up, asking to talk, and other similar things when the other person does not want to get back together at that moment.

If you want to know how to get your ex to want you back, you must first understand that if your ex wanted the breakup and is not trying to get back together with you right now, then you are intruding by trying to talk them into getting back together and by constantly contacting them.
