In this video we explain the new 2025 version of Ireland’s Non-EEA Family Reunification Policy — and what it means if you are a foreign worker (HCA / General Employment Permit holder / GEP) and want to bring your spouse or family to Ireland.

What is the “Family Reunification” policy — who is eligible, what is its purpose
What was the old policy (pre-2025) under the 2016 rules: who could bring family, what were the conditions
What are the **new changes (Nov 2025 revision)**:
• Definition of “family” narrowed — now only spouse/partner + unmarried children under 18 (adult children 18–23 in full-time education are no longer automatically eligible).
• For General Employment Permit holders (GEP / “Category C”): there is a 12-month waiting-period before you can apply for family reunification.
• Income requirement: to bring just a spouse, the sponsor must earn **gross €30,000 (year prior)**.
• For bringing children — sliding financial thresholds apply (net/gross amounts scale up with number of children).
• New requirement: you must show *suitable private accommodation* before applying for family reunification.
• The application will now include a *fee* (for the first time).
• Work-right changes: spouses/partners of GEP (and certain permit-holders) — after reunification — can work under Stamp 1G (no separate employment permit).
• For minor children (aged 16–18) — some may get work permission under the new policy.
