The Cokato Museum & Historical Society has partnered up with the Cokato Finnish American Historical Society to produce a new Youtube video "Three Finns and a Swede, The Log Cabin's History." Elias Peltopera, was a Finnish immigrant, who came to the Cokato area in 1865 to stake his claim. He was accompanied by his friends Mathias Karjenaho, Olaf Westerberg, and John Viinikka, who staked neighboring claims. Elias Peltopera's home was the first of the four built by the companions.
Today the log cabin is owned by the Cokato Finnish American Historical Society (CFAHS) and is now located at Temperance Corner in Cokato Township. As seen in the video, the cabin is staged with furniture from around the late 1800's and early 1900's.
