The Cardinals looked to continue their dominance in the NLCS against a familiar foe - fellow NL Central residents, the Houston Astros.
Red-hot Astros slugger Carlos Beltran smashed a pitch from Cardinals starter Woody Williams into the right field seats in the top of the first to put Houston in front, but an Albert Pujols homer in the bottom of the inning knotted the game at two. Williams surrendered another two-run homer - this time to Jeff Kent - in the top of the 4th, before helping his own cause by getting a game-tying rally started with a one-out double in the bottom of the 5th.
The Cardinals took the lead by scoring six runs off the less-than-stellar Houston bullpen in the 6th inning, and ultimately held on for an 10-6 victory.
