The life of wild squirrels
In the forest, squirrels live a quick and energetic life. They spend most of their time climbing through the treetops, jumping from branch to branch in search of food. Their favorite foods are usually nuts, fruits, buds, and sometimes small insects.
In the morning, squirrels leave their nests — often tree hollows or leafy nests they build themselves — to start foraging. When the forest is quiet, you can spot a squirrel sitting on a branch, holding a nut with its tiny front paws and nibbling it bit by bit.
Despite their small size, squirrels are very alert. They constantly listen to the sounds around them to avoid predators. The moment they sense danger, they dash up the tree trunk and disappear into the canopy.
