In this video, I am starting with a bar of .450" thick, 1.89" wide W2 tool steel. While this isn't my best forging, I'm also getting used to a new hammer, so it's not a big deal. In any case, the knife finishes out at about 7 7/8" cutting edge after profile grinding, and about 1.7" wide at the choil. The ricasso is .350" thick prior to grinding. I just got an actual chop saw for metal, rather than using an angle grinder with a zip disc, so I wound up lopping off a little too much material for the tang. No worries, it's going to be a thru tang knife with a threaded tang, so the extra material isn't actually too much more than what's needed. Hope you enjoy!
