Protected communication center "C" type A (aka: "4-in-1", "Sun") !!!

System "C" is intended for communication of the USSR General Staff with certain particularly important points via a satellite constellation. Each communication center has separate hardware solutions designed to function both in peacetime and wartime. The system is also designed to transmit local combat control commands via radio relay links.

System "C" has two independent receiver-transmitter channels for satellite communications, but the antenna systems are retractable and are housed in mines remotely resembling the mines of the Strategic Missile Forces. (Four mines built directly into the volume of the structure). Local communication channel, implemented by cable networks and through radio relay communication, made on the basis of a separately built fifth mine. (Where the retractable antenna is also located).

Two types of "C" communication centers are known. Type "A" is made in a three-story volume, and does not have a separate mine for radio relay communication. For communication with closely located command elements uses only cable channels.
Type "B" is equipped with a separate (fifth) mine for the radio-relay communication antenna, and is made in a two-storey volume, with a separately taken out refrigerating machine unit.
Autonomous power supply of communication centers from two diesel engines (main and reserve). Autonomy reserve is about a month.
The system was never put into service. The ground segment of the system was never completed (and abandoned at various stages of readiness), and the space segment was never put into orbit.

Automated protected communications center with retractable antennas for communication with the satellite constellation. A three-story building built in the excavation for backfill. Combat duty is carried out with a high degree of automation, with minimal duty shift. On the territory of the guard company barracks, checkpoint, transformer substation and the remains of an unattended amplifier station. Behind the territory are the remains of the construction battalion barracks.

The upper floor is designed for the equipment of receivers and transmitters, and administrative premises. Lower floor is designed for life support systems (air preparation, diesels, compressors, transformers, etc.) and refrigeration machines. The system of transceivers is two-channel. Channel antennas (one mine for receiving and one mine for transmitting) are grouped in pairs.
