This hive has been struggling since May, they grew so much in May, that I split the colony twice, one has the original queen and the other made their own queen, however this colony was left queenless and was unsuccessful in making a new queen, I introduced a new queen on May 25th, unfortunately she was not accepted, I did not find her after she was released. I thought that all hope was lost, but decided to attempt to requeen again on June 22nd, this time I taped over the candy plug for 3 days so that she would be released slower, it took 6-7 days, best not to rush them.
Two weeks ago I was convinced that I had failed again, I saw no eggs larvae or brood, I didnt see the queen until a viewer said that they saw a caramel queen in the video. voila I found her, she wasnt really interested in the frames that she had, this was after I reduced the hive to 5 frames too, they were older frames, so I decided to give them some newer comb, now last week I inspected them and found the queen on the frames where she is supposed to be and I also found eggs !! sucess !! now this week I am now finding eggs larvae and some capped brood. Some of the brood from the frame of brood I gave them 2 weeks ago is now emerging so this will give them a boost in population and young bees to look after the larvae. Hopefully next week will be even better for them. I did find the queen on the frame that I had given them from another hive, and she is laying eggs.
