Hot Wheels Sizzlers Ferrari 512 S (Can-Am) Restomod

Hot Wheels Sizzlers Ferrari 512 S – According to the Hot Wheels Wiki, Sizzlers was a line of motorized Hot Wheels cars produced from 1970 to 1978. This particular car is referred to as the Ferrari Can-Am (although the bottom of the car shows Ferrari 512 S) and was introduced in 1971 and used until 1973 when the line was discontinued. The Sizzlers line was put on hiatus after 1973 – in 1976 they created Sizzlers II, and then permanently stopped production in 1978.

Some purists will be upset that I removed all of the electronics from the car except for the motor. The pieces were corroded and brittle. Removing them ensured that once the car was redone, they wouldn’t pose any threat to the paint.

Because attempts to polish the plastic back to its original condition were unsuccessful, it was painted with Tamiya Color TS-85 bright mica red (left over from a Ferrari build early this year) and clear coated with Minwax Clear Gloss Poly – both rattle can paints.
