Woodturning a Brick Vase, Walnut with Maple

Woodturning! Making another segmented vase from rescued firewood. This one is from the same wood pile as the mystery metal bowl, and from the same log as the last segmented walnut vase video. (links to both in the video)

I rescued this walnut log over ten years ago. I milled the wood into slabs then 1x2s and have made two segmented vases from it…..thanks to all the comments I received regarding the wasted wood shaved away in the mystery metal bowl. “Waste” is a normal and accepted thing when it comes to woodturning. There will always be shavings. But it’s fun and challenging to see just how much I can make out of one log…and I’m not done! I have two 1x2 boards a bunch of cut off pieces, and a couple bag full of pretty shavings. So, stay tuned for more! Be sure to subscribe and click the notification bell.
