Settled around Ilkeston's Shipley Lake sits an unfinished mix use development, but locals and theme park fans alike remember the lake looking wildly different. They remember a time where the lake was surrounded by rollercoasters, rides, and screams. They remember what once was Britannia Park and later, The American Adventure.

Join me in a deep dive through this parks colourful history. From it's very inception to its ultimate demise, this is the history of the American Adventure Theme Park.
