This recording is part of a series of three CPD sessions included in the timetabled events for Craft School: Material World 2024/25.
In this session, held on 19 November 2024, we explore the theme of Reclaim and Reuse. Join Sam Kendall, Head of School Learning at the Eden Project, as she shares her insights and experiences in designing and delivering craft projects within alternative provision settings.
The session also features a hands-on make-along led by artist Liaqat Rasul, using recycled materials that can be easily sourced from your recycling bin!
These recycled materials could include: A4 bank statements/ Plastic bags (clear and coloured)/ Newspapers and magazines/ Brown packaging paper/ Tissue paper, napkins/ Cardboard/ Red plastic net bag (e.g., for oranges)/ Foil card/ Coffee packets, pasta packets/ Old fabrics/ Gauze net, wool, string, and ribbon/ Plastic yellow binding strap.
Essential Supplies:
• Sharp Scissors*
• A4 thick card for creating cuffs
• A piece of wood dowel or cane (approx. 50 cm x 0.5 cm - 1 cm width) or tree branches. This will be used as a fringing prop
• Tape – could be double-sided, Masking or gaffer tape
• Power stapler (one-finger touch model)
• Ruler
• Biro and black Sharpie
• Optional for students with fine motor needs: Specialised stapler: Rapesco 1467 Germ-Savvy Antibacterial, ECO Luna Less Effort Stapler
