Ontinyent is a town and municipality in the Valencian Community in Spain. It has around 36000 inhabitants. It is located 55 km from the sea coast and 84 km South of Valencia.
The city has a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters. The summers are hot and can exceed 35 °C (95 degrees Fahrenheit) sometimes. Snow is rare, it doesn't happen every year. In the very warm day of filming temperatures was 20 degrees Celsius in January.
The name of the town comes from Latin 'Untinianus'.
The place has a long history and several cultural monuments can be seen today like impressive Church of Santa Maria and several other churches, Palace of the Duchess of Almodóvar, the Old Bridge and others. The walls of the old town also can be seen today.
