Mandaram Nuwara, Sri Lanka Also known as the “Misty City”, Mandaram Nuwara is a secluded village nestled at the base of Piduruthalagala, Sri Lanka's tallest mountain, and near the Knuckles Mountain Range. It's located in the Nuwara Eliya District.

⭕ Route From Kandy, after passing Rikillagaskada Hanguranketha, turn around at the Elamale junction and go about 11 kilometers, you will meet Mandarm Nuwara. Do you know why this village is called Mandarm Nuwara? That is because the sun rises later than usual, and the sun sets earlier than other villages. The reason for this is that this village called Mandaram Nuwara is located in the middle of a mountain range located between the four mountain ranges of Piduruthalagala, Gonapitiya, Kabaragala and Udagabbala. Although it is limited to a village today, Mandaram Nuwara is a village that hides a huge historical story. There is an old Ka book called Mandarampura Puwatha consisting of 866 Ka. This Ka book details information about 8 kings from King Sitawaka Rajasinghe to King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe. In other words, this Ka book mentions the kings who ruled the Kandyan kingdom for a period of 2 centuries. Mandaram Nuwara has been a very useful safe place for kings since ancient history.Whenever the kingdom of Kandy was attacked, the kings fled to Mandarampura. Not alone. They took with them the queen, the women of the harem, and all the wealth, including gold, silver, pearls, and gems. If there was a war in Kandy and it could not be faced, the kings and queens brought the royal jewels, gold, silver, pearls and gems and kept them for safekeeping in Mandarampur. But apart from a place called Maligatenna, there is no archaeological evidence to show that the kings lived in Mandarampur now.
