A murder investigation is underway after a woman was kidnapped from her home before a body, believed to be hers, was found in a burning car in Bankstown.

Police have shot and killed a man in Melbourne after charging at them with a knife.

Two people are dead and six others were injured after a gunman opened fire at a university in Florida.
