Sailing a Gruben (Klepper) FAM in Brückelsee, Bavaria, Germany.
Sailing Club hosting the sail is the "Regensburger Segelsportgemeinschaft am Brückelsee e.V" or simply "RSB e.V".
Named "Little Wing", the light monohul sailboat is a German type "Jollekreuzer" built by "Gruben" in Markdorf, 1993.
Originally produced by Klepper, The FAM was designed as a backdecker by the successful regatta sailors Uwe Mares and Hubert Raudaschl and has been built since the beginning of 1969 with only minor changes.
The FAM is an unsinkable dinghy cruiser of around 5.40 m in length - sometimes 5.38 m is also specified - and is designed for inland waters and coastal areas. It can be sailed well in winds of 1 to 6 Bft. Despite the 88 kg ballast daggerboard, the FAM is not self-righting. It has space for a maximum of 5 people, and is ideally manned by a two-man crew. Outboard engines with around 5 HP are possible, and the standard attachment is on the starboard side of the transom. This type of boat is widespread, with over 2,500 boats sold.
