I spent my first full day in Rwanda exploring the capital, Kigali. The first thing you notice is how incredibly clean and organized everything is—it's famous for it. I saw the modern football stadium and experienced the city's unique energy.
Kigali is more than just a clean city; it's the vibrant heart of Rwanda, home to over 1.6 million people. The country has one of Africa's fastest-growing economies, and you can feel that progress here. The famous cleanliness isn't by chance—it's a national priority with policies like a strict plastic ban and a community clean-up day called Umuganda.
This modern, forward-moving city, built on beautiful green hills, marks an exciting new chapter in my African bicycle tour.
