TITLE: Why 30-Day Fast & Pray?
DAY 07: A Challenge to Preach the Good News

Roms 10:14-15
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Once, in a Church Service, an elderly woman stood up to testify. “Last Sunday afternoon, I was about to hang myself when my doorbell rang and rang. I waited for whoever it was to go away, but he was very persistent. At last, I opened the door and saw a little boy standing in the rain and cold, handed me a gospel tract and said to me: “JESUS REALLY LOVES YOU!”

His words caused my heart, which had long been dead, to leap to life. As this little angel went out into the rain and cold, I closed the door and slowly read every word of the gospel tract. The thought of suicide was no longer in my mind, because, you see, I know Jesus loves and I am a child of the King!

“Thank you, God’s little angel. You came in the nick of time and saved my soul from an eternity in hell.”

Comments
God’s Word in this passage challenges us to bring the good news to those who need to hear them so that they may believe in our Lord Jesus. We never know who our Lord will save in the nick of time, like the elderly sister in our story today. How would she know God loves her dearly if not for the little angel’s persistence to bring her this Good News?

God has blessed us through the Good News of the love and salvation of Christ Jesus. How would our Hokkien pre-believers come to faith in Jesus and be blessed as a result, unless someone brings the good news to them?

Who is that someone? It is you & I. Our Lord Jesus has given us the Great Commission to go into the world to preach the Good News. Thus, we need not wait to be sent, but to act and become the bearer of the Good News to those who desperately need to hear it.

Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father, We are often told that we are blessed in order to be a blessing. Use us that we may be a bearer of your Good News to our Hokkien pre-believers so they may be blessed with your love and salvation, and be set free from their captivity to sin.

Help us to go forth with love and courage, and not be ‘ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. ’ (Romans 1:16).

In the Precious Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen
