🇯🇵🇨🇳 Beginning in 1931, Japan carried out a meticulously planned colonial project in Northeast China that lasted nearly three decades. Approximately 300,000 Japanese farmers, encouraged by their government, migrated to Manchuria under the promise of “building a new life.”
After Japan’s surrender in 1945, these settlers were among the last to learn the truth—abandoned by their homeland and left stranded in China.
Among them, nearly 5,000 children lost their parents and were adopted by Chinese families, raised with kindness far beyond the shadows of war.

📺 This episode traces the forty-year postwar journey of Japan’s “left-behind orphans” as they finally returned to their homeland—only to face institutional neglect and governmental silence.
