Machli Ka Salan
Ingredients
1 kg Fish Fillet
2 Medium Onions (puréed)
1 tsp Ginger Paste/Powder
1 tsp Garlic Paste/Powder
½ tsp Fenugreek Seeds
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Cup Yoghurt
5 Cloves
7 Green Cardamoms
1 Black Cardamom
¼ tsp Black Peppercorns
2 tbsp Ginger (julienne)
1 cup Oil
Salt to taste
Method
Heat oil in a pan, add fenugreek seeds and fry for a few seconds.
Add onion, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
Add yoghurt to it and fry the masala until the oil separates (bhunai).
Add the fish to it and cook on low heat by adding ½ cup of water.
Add whole garam masala (cloves, cardamoms and black peppercorns) and ginger, and cook for 10 minutes on slow heat until you achieve the right consistency of the gravy.
