The Shree Ambika Shaktipeeth in Viratnagar (also known as Bairat), Rajasthan, is considered a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Situated in the Aravalli hills, the temple is also known as the Mansa Mata Temple. According to the Devi Purana, the site is the 41st of 51 Shakti Peethas. Legend holds that the four toes of Goddess Sati's left foot fell here when Lord Vishnu dismembered her body.
The temple is dedicated to Maa Ambika, a manifestation of Goddess Shakti. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of Amriteshwar.
The temple is mentioned in the epic Mahabharata, and local lore suggests that Lord Krishna himself once visited this holy site. The town of Viratnagar corresponds to the ancient city of Virāṭanagara, the capital of the Matsya kingdom where the Pandavas spent their final year of exile.
Devotees believe that a visit to this temple and a glimpse of the goddess can fulfill their wishes and bring relief from worldly problems.
The temple is located in Papdi village, a part of the Viratnagar town in the Jaipur district of Rajasthan. It is situated on a small hillock within the Aravalli mountain range.
Pilgrims must climb a staircase of about 60 to 70 steps to reach the hilltop temple.
The temple is known for its peaceful, spiritual atmosphere, with the hilltop location offering natural views and a serene environment. A dirt road of about 2 km connects the temple to the main road.
The temple is approximately 90 km from Jaipur and can also be accessed from Alwar, which is 65 km away.
