In the evolution of ISDE (International Six Days Enduro) competition, motocross skills have played an ever increasing role. In the early 90's, the US Team started focusing on developing these skills in their off-road riders. Following the 1991 Trask Mountain 2 Day Qualifier, legendary motocross rider Bob Hannah conducted a riding clinic covering body positioning, line selection and other techniques and tactics for success in the annual event. Bob is a very good teacher/instructor/coach in how he also uses body language/gestures to demonstrate proper technique.
Notable clinic students include David Rhodes, Jimmy Lewis, and Steve Hatch, who went on to win the ISDE Junior Trophy later that year in Czechoslovakia along with Chris Smith. (Sorry if you were at this clinic Chris, I don't recognize you in the video). Other riders I recall in this video in no particular order are: Scott Summers on the booming XR600, Tom Ady, Charles Halcomb, Randy Hawkins, Dave Bertram, Kurt Hough (1990 Trask winner O/A), and Tom Wolfman Webb. Also observing, are Trask Mountain organizers Mike Poe and Carl Mendenhall, as well as Canadian rider Todd Lindahl.
The video was shot on 8mm tape with a Sony CCD-M8, from 1985. Over the years, the tape has degraded, and several dropouts and unplayable sections have developed. The tape finishes off with Scott Summers on the gas just as the battery ran out.
