Small fish curry Nellore special-Chinna chepalu chintaku podi iguru
Nellore has special place in food related topics. Fish pulusu prepared in Nellore style is very famous recipe. Another fish recipe prepared only in Nellore is Small fish tamarind leaves powder curry also widely known as “chintaku pakkila iguru”. This curry is very delicious and tasty curry.
Ingredients:
Small fish (good water fish)-500 gms (should be cleaned properly by removing heads,tails etc)
Dry tamarind leaves powder-50 gms
Tomato -2 (chop into pieces)
Onions-2 (chop into pieces)
Green chilli-2 (chop in to two pieces)
Turmeric-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves-little
Salt-for taste
Tamarind-medium lemon size
Red chilli powder-2 tb sp
Oil-1 tb sp
Mustard seeds-1 t sp
Fenugreek (Methi ) seeds-little
Preparation:
1.In a small bowl pour 1 tea glass water and soak tamarind.
2.In a bowl add small fish, tamarind leaves powder, turmeric, red chilli powder ,green chilli, tomato, onions (keep little for later), salt for taste and mix well as shown in video.
3.Now extract tamarind pulp by removing waste and pour this pulp in fish.
4.Keep a clay container (u can use other type also) on stove ,add oil ,after it is hot add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds ,curry leaves ,left out onions one by one.
5.Now add well mixed fish and pour 2 cups of water (required for gravy) and cook for 25 min on medium flame with lid closed.
6.Check for any excess water and cook if required.
7.Now remove from stove and serve with rice or ragi mudda.
Note: Taste will be increased if it served next day.
