LAPD Helps Clean Up Trash at Homeless Encampment in Venice

Los Angeles, May 8, 2024: Los Angeles Police Officers assisted in a cleanup operation by picking up trash at a homeless encampment on Washington Boulevard in Venice. This initiative brought together a multi-agency task force, including the LAPD, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), and Councilwoman Traci Park's Housing Coordinator.

The officers' presence ensured that the cleanup was conducted smoothly and safely. Working with Public Works and Clean Harbors, team members in protective gear carefully differentiated and disposed of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

This initiative reflects the City of Los Angeles' ongoing strategy to manage homelessness and improve public health. LAHSA provided support services like food, water, and hygiene kits to those affected, highlighting a compassionate approach.

These coordinated efforts form part of the city's broader strategy to address cleanliness, safety, and the underlying causes of homelessness. Councilwoman Traci Park’s leadership has been crucial, emphasizing a balanced and humane approach to tackling these urban challenges.
