I love the idea of shooting animals on 4x5... but will they keep still??
This is another instalment of my series on local businesses, this time I'm visiting the lovely Jenny of Wren Birds of Prey - https://www.thewren.info
Wren offer photography days, and if I wasn't being an idiot and attempting to shoot on 4x5, then I think it would be crazy rewarding. Some of Jenny's birds are just mesmerising... those eyes!!
However, I have to go and try to do it on 4x5. Unsurprisingly, focus was challenging. The beautiful birds have a tendency to move you see. And I couldn't close the iris down to give myself a fighting chance, because I would have had to slow the shutter down so much that I would be facing the alternative problem, that of motion blur.
Aaaaanyway, some of them came out ok. I'm happy with the results. And I'm super happy with that 65mm lens! I just love that angle of view. Makes such a hug difference. And gets me away from those bloody 50mm equivalent focal lengths, with which my issues persist.
