What is topping the agenda of President Xi Jinping’s visit to Vietnam?

Chinese President Xi Jinping is in Vietnam as part of his first overseas state visit of the year, which also includes stops in Malaysia and Cambodia. The trip comes as China and Vietnam mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year – raising expectations for deeper political trust and expanded economic cooperation between the two socialist neighbors. What is topping the agenda of President Xi’s trip to Vietnam? How have bilateral ties progressed in recent years? And as Washington’s tariff war continues to cast a shadow over global trade, how will China’s economic engagement with Southeast Asia evolve?
