PPH Management | Postpartum Hemorrhage Management | Nursing Lecture

Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) is one of the important leading obstetrical emergencies that can cause maternal death, so here in this video flow diagram is used to explain the management according to the most common causes.

I. Primary PPH-
A) 3rd stage PPH -
Fundal massage
CCT
Check for completeness of placenta
Not separated then Manual removal under G.A.

B) True PPH
1. Atonic uterus-
Use of uterotonics, fails, then
Uterine compressions, fails, then
Bimanual method
Balloon Tamponade
Surgical method-
​Uterine compression sutures
Stepwise devascularization
B/L Uterine artery ligation
B/L ovarian artery ligation
B/L anterior division of internal iliac artery ligation, if fails all, then
-Hysterectomy

2. Trauma- Explore under G.A. and suture the part where the tear is there.

II. Secondary PPH-
The most common cause is retained tissues, so explore under G.A. And remove all the left behind tissues.
