Can a 16 year old Honda Civic get 50 MPG?
Our project car is a five-speed manual 1999 Honda Civic HX Coupe. This beater build is all about beating the official EPA fuel economy specs and infusing a bit of coolness on a tight budget.
The Civic HX manual is rated at 30 City, 38 Highway, 33 Combined miles per gallon, but owners on FuelEconomydotGov are averaging 41.5 MPG.
The car is running Michelin Defender low rolling resistance tires, Valvoline Max Life Full Synthetic Oil (for older cars), and has some D-I-Y aero mods.
