The first cases of influenza in Kansas City, Missouri developed among the city’s two army motor corps schools, and from there spread to the civilian population. Possibly starting at Camp Funston in Ft. Riley, KS, the outbreak took 2,300 Kansas Citations lives, enhanced by poor leadership.
