M-Point presents: AmaPiano vs Kwai Jazz Mix Sessions

AmaPiano is the most popular genre these days as it combines Kwaito with Contemporary Jazz, and Deep House Music. Though it emerged from the regional and short lived Kwaito and House subgenre, Bacardi, there was also a predecessor that combined Kwaito and Jazz music. That predecessor was known as Kwai-Jazz!

During the early '90s, Kwai-Jazz was developed as a subgenre that combined Kwaito and Jazz music. Like D'Gong music (subgenre that fused Kwaito, Soul music, and Dancehall Reggae), Kwai-Jazz did have a heyday during the '90s and the early 2000.

In October 2020, I hosted an episode about Kwai-Jazz and AmaPiano on the syndicated National Public Radio show, "Afro-Pop Worldwide" with famed radio presenter Georges Collinet. Below is the link to the episode:
