Walking Around Suzuka, Mie: Factory Town Streets Near Hiratacho Station

I originally wanted to head toward the Tohoku region, but with all the recent news about bears, I decided to change course and travel west instead. The final destination of this trip is Okayama Prefecture.

From Okayama, I passed through Hyogo, Osaka, and Nara, and made my way back into Mie Prefecture. This time I visited Suzuka City. When I looked into which area might be interesting to walk around, the neighborhood around Hiratachō Station seemed like the best choice.

This area developed as a factory district on the former site of Imperial Japanese Navy facilities. Looking at the map, you can see large plants belonging to Asahi Kasei and Honda Motor, which really gives Suzuka the feel of an industrial “factory town.”
