When I first did this fight with Cloud's 6th weapon you get near the end - some garish golden curvy sword, nothing looked right. So I got out the Buster Sword, the one you start the game with, and kicked Sephiroth's ass with it. PERFECT.
Also, a cheeky Bahamut megaflare for the final hit of damage. Well timed.
