Near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS), has been traditionally used to quantify grain composition at high throughput and low costs. Holly Lane of Texas A&M, College Station, presents evidence to suggest that NIRS data can be used as phenomic data to assist in the selection process by providing information about the genetic value of samples.
