This very special video from Gordon Schaeffer in our archives features William "Bill" Palmer of Palmer Labs in San Francisco giving a complete overview of his history with filmmaking. Specifically, being an inventor who pioneered the use of 16mm film for professional applications. Palmer was also the first to add a magnetic soundtrack to 16mm, built his own equipment, and became a Bay Area filmmaking legend with a motion picture film lab bearing his name. This in-depth talk also features clips or entire films showcasing the work he had done.
The event at which this talk was recorded was a 1992 SMPTE event. SMPTE stands for the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.
