Sisikon to Brunnen Hike and Encounters with a Local Cat // Easy Hike in Switzerland [4K 60fps]

One of my favourite hikes in Switzerland so far has been from Sisikon to Brunnen (the final section of the Weg der Schweiz). The Weg der Schweiz is a long 35 km trail built around the southern end of Lake Luzern (Vierwaldstättersee) and it is divided into 7 sections. All sections of the trail are accessible without the need for mountain transport/cogwheel train/cable car, etc., and is easily accessible by train or bus.

There is a steep ascent of stairs at the beginning of the hike at Sisikon but I was able to manage it without hiking poles (but I definitely needed a few minutes to catch my breath!). The entire hike was so pleasant and dream-like. I was surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and mountains and the trail took me through lots of beautiful rolling hills and farmlands with cows and sheep. I even made a new friend along the way! I also packed a lunch as there are no services/restaurants along the trail, but there are a few picnic areas and benches.

This hike was easy and safe with wide gravel and dirt paths, just the steep stairs at the beginning, and some narrower dirt paths. There were frequent sign posts and you just need to follow the green 99 “Weg der Schweiz” signs in the direction of Morschach and Brunnen.

How I got there from Zürich HB: I took the train to Zug train station, then took another train to Sisikon train station, and started my hike from there. Since my hike ended at the Brunnen ferry terminal, I walked to the Brunnen train station through the town (~15 minutes) and then took the train home from there.
