Sunshine for Elephants is an ethical elephant sanctuary project, set up in 2015, to help provide a better life for elephants. The elephants living here are not required to work or perform, and instead enjoy a better life doing what comes naturally – wandering the jungle, foraging on native vegetation, taking mud baths, swimming in the river, and interacting with each other.Sunshine for Elephants is home to two female elephants – Ta Mon rescued from elephant riding and Sri Prai rescued from logging. After many years in the Saddle Off program, these elephants are much healthier and more relaxed, thanks to having the freedom to just be elephants. They enjoy being fed fruit and vegetable treats by visitors, walking with them in the jungle and foraging on bamboo, grass, figs and other native plants in the forest.Visitors to Sunshine for Elephants have the chance to spend a magical day with these elephants - preparing fruit and banana health balls, feeding them, walking with them through the jungle, and watching them forage, and swim in the river. Guests also participate in protecting and rejuvenating the nearby forest by tying blessed sashes around the trunks of trees.By visiting this ethical elephant project, you are directly contributing to the ongoing support and care of the elephants, improving their well-being and are positively impacting the lives of the elephants at Sunshine for Elephants.

Asian Elephant Projects is an organization dedicated to supporting small, independent elephant tourism operators in the transition to ethical and sustainable programs, which provide a more natural life for the elephants. Under the Saddle Off model, owners agree to follow a set of guidelines designed to ensure the welfare of the elephants under their care, and in turn, we provide the knowledge and resources to support these ethical elephant projects. We help the Saddle Off projects by providing them with tour guides, transportation, booking management, and marketing. We also provide veterinary care and elephant food deliveries. Asian Elephant Projects is run by the experienced team at Save Elephant Foundation and Elephant Nature Park, founded by Saengduean Lek Chailert. For over two decades, Lek has been rescuing injured, neglected, and elderly elephants, while leading the movement towards the ethical treatment of elephants in Asia.
