2020 6A Championship: Buford vs. Lee County

In a dramatic showdown between two of Georgia’s elite programs, Buford edged Lee County 34-31 in overtime to capture its 13th state championship—and its first in Class 6A. The Wolves became the first school in GHSA history to win titles in six different classifications. After Kentucky signee Chauncey Magwood gave Lee County a 31-24 lead with under two minutes left in regulation, Buford answered in just over a minute with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Stanford signee Ashton Daniels to Alabama-bound Isaiah Bond. Buford kicked a 26-yard field goal in overtime, then sealed the win by forcing a game-ending fumble near the goal line. Daniels finished 13-of-17 for 192 yards and two scores—both to Bond, who had 91 yards on four catches. South Carolina signee Gabe Ervin Jr. McDowell added 92 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards, and a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown.
