Over 2 weeks, our group of 14 students explored Thailand’s incredible ecosystems, from the dense forests of Chiang Mai to the coral reefs of Koh Tao. We participated in forest restoration efforts, observed Asian elephants in ethical sanctuaries, and conducted marine surveys to support coral reef conservation. Beyond the hands-on work, we immersed ourselves in Thai culture, learning to cook traditional Thai cuisines, experiencing Buddhist practices, and learning from local people who shared their knowledge and stories with us. This trip was more than just an academic experience, it was about forming connections, understanding different perspectives, and gaining a deeper appreciation for the relationship between people, wildlife, and the environment. Through these moments, I hope to share the beauty and importance of the lessons we experienced in Thailand.
