傣族织锦以丝、棉、麻、木棉、毛为原料，其中又以丝、棉为主，主要有棉织锦和丝织锦两种。织锦需借助手摇纺车、梭、综、镊、卷经轴、分经棍、卷布轴、幅撑等工具，经过备料、弹花、卷筵、纺线、整经、上机、染色等流程方能制成织工精巧、图案别致、色彩艳丽的傣锦。
Dai brocade primarily uses silk, cotton, hemp, kapok, and wool as raw materials, with silk and cotton being the most common. There are two main types: cotton brocade and silk brocade. The weaving process involves tools like hand-operated spinning wheels, shuttles, heddles, tweezers, warp beams, warp separators, cloth beams, and stretchers. The steps include preparing materials, fluffing cotton, making slivers, spinning yarn, warping, setting up the loom, and dyeing. This intricate process results in exquisite, unique, and vividly colored brocade.
