In today’s video, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my newest 10x10 painting inspired by the iconic trio that helped shape hip-hop history. This piece took me a full week to create, and I blasted all the 90s hip-hop classics while painting though streaming their music was harder than expected because of the ongoing battle for their masters. I talk about that too.
You’ll see how I work small (which is harder but way faster!), how I use Gamblin Oils with Liquin, and the teeny-tiny detail brushes I grabbed from Amazon to capture all the movement, energy, and nostalgia.
I also share a little about my childhood, growing up with a mom who was obsessed with Salt-N-Pepa, and how that shaped my respect for their impact on music and culture.
This 10x10 painting will be part of the Artworks Trenton 10x10 Fundraising Art Show, and I’ve also turned it into an art print now available on my website.
