Professor Sebastian Kim discusses one of the most challenging issues for public theology, especially in the US context, that of polarization, which may lead to significant consequences in every area of public life. In this on-line conversation, he will explore with us four questions: Does polarization always carry destructive consequences? When does polarization become a problem? What is the theological challenge and what can public theology do? This conversation will provide insights into Sebastian’s forthcoming book, Polarization: A Theological Challenge.
Professor Sebastian Kim is Interim Dean of the School of Mission and Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary, California. He holds the Robert Wiley Chair of Renewal in Public Life and is Academic Dean for the Korean Studies Center. His research interests are public theology, world Christianity, Asian theologies, and theology and peacebuilding. He is a fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society and former editor of the International Journal of Public Theology.
The Centre for Religion in Society (CRiS) at York St John University provides a forum where scholars and practitioners can come together to examine the role of religion in the cultural, social, and political life of society.
