1984 - I Volunteer To Be Trained By Special Forces & Army Rangers For Platoon Confidence Training

While in the Army in 1984, I was given the rare chance to train with the Army Rangers at Camp Worden in Bad Tolze, Germany. The Special Forces were the trainers and the course was for two weeks on Platoon Confidence Training. I was the only volunteer there among 150 Rangers and infantry troops. They were all highly trained for this type of event, but I was not. I did very well though and when it was over I was asked to be sent to Ranger school at Fort Benning, Ga.. This was one of the hardest things I did in my life. It was very extreme and gave me a taste of what the elite fighters go through. 100% respect should be given to everyone in the Rangers and Special Forces. CSM Purdy was the man in charge of it all back then. He is a Ranger legend!
