"The do-it-yourself anti-hypothermia brigade is hard at work."
Chris Rainbow reports from a communtiy centre in Wandsworth, London, where a group of old people are making their own "continental quilts" or duvets, to help keep them warm during cold winter weather. To keep their spirits up while they work, they sing the Duvet Song - penned by Wandsworth Medical Officer, and duvet enthusiast, Dr Michael Church.
But what exactly are these newfangled duvets, can a duvet really keep you as warm as blankets, and how much can you save by making your own?
Clip taken from Nationwide, originally broadcast on BBC One, 7 February, 1974.
