Gentle Whispering Maryland woman is the YouTube sensation you can't stop watching

A Maryland woman has more than 88 million views and counting on YouTube, but it's what she is doing in her videos that may surprise you. Put simply, she whispers.

She is using a skill called autonomous sensor meridian response (or ASMR) to connect with your brain to calm people, and it seems to be the perfect mental medicine that people can't stop listening to. She's got more than 300,000 subscribers to her channel.

Twenty-eight-year-old Maria from Baltimore, who is better known as the Gentle Whisperer, has been making these soft-spoken videos on her YouTube page for the past three years. She whispers random sentences on a number of topics, explaining things as common as how to take the hair out of a brush.
